Abby’s Room
Our second bedroom project was completed in March, 2007 for a little girl named Abby. Abby was diagnosed with a brain tumor at the age of 18 months and underwent two surgeries and 4 months of radiation before the tumor was successfully removed. The large dose of radiation that Abby received has left her cervical spine weakened and fragile. There is a great chance that she’ll need to have a spinal fusion at some point to strengthen her spine. This is something that her doctors are hoping to put off at least another 2-4 years however at anytime she could start to experience symptoms of mild compression on her spinal cord and the fusion will need to be done immediately. Because Abby is so young, all of her memories unfortunately involve doctors, hospitals, pain and sickness. Abby is a typical little girl who loves all things “girly” and dreams of being a princess. When we heard that she had experienced so much unpleasantness already in her short life, we were compelled to create a place for her that was beautiful, cheerful and happy. Abby now has a beautiful, one-of-a-kind, pink and purple bedroom that would bring happiness to any little princess.
"There are no words to express how much we are enjoying Abby's room. You have made a real difference and we say prayers of thanks daily. Please know that your gift to Abby is treasured!" - Abby's parents Jason and Francie
